Community Dinner

By 2003 the church had begun an active social ministry addressing issues of homelessness and hunger in our community. A response to the needs was the institution of a community meal served every Thursday night in the church fellowship hall. A complete meal of spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert, and beverage is provided without cost to anyone wishing to come.

While many homeless participate, there are also many others, who while not homeless, have other needs this community meal addresses. Some come to enjoy a hot meal they otherwise may not have had while others come to escape their own isolation by sharing in a meal with others. As many as 350 persons can be found enjoying this opportunity on any given Thursday night.

This community meal also offers individuals opportunities for service. Whether cooking in the kitchen, acting as servers, making salads, or just taking the time to listen to the stories of those coming for the meal, volunteers are welcome at any time. The meal begins at 5:00p.m. and ends at 7:00p.m. If you have any questions about the community dinner or would like information on how you can help, please contact Jeanne Anderson, our minister with adults and missions.
